Chello Central Europe replaces Zonemedia Poland

2009-10-30: Since October 2009, Zonemedia Poland has officially changed its name to Chello Central Europe. This change is a consequence of recent changes in ownership of the Chellomedia holding. From April 2009 Zonemedia Poland (now Chello Central Europe) is subordinated to Chello Central Europe based in Budapest.

BBC and Arqiva announce agreement

2009-10-19: The BBC and Arqiva have announced that the agreement to upgrade the relevant parts of the UK digital terrestrial television (DTT) transmission network to DVB-T2 has been confirmed. The new DVB-T2 technology will deliver an increase in capacity of 67% to the BBC’s Multiplex B, efficiently creating the space needed for UK public service broadcasters\' HD transmissions.

SAT Krak 2009 stuettes for the best products

2009-10-19: On 15th October at 20:00 in Cracow was a ceremonial awarding of SAT KRAK 2009 statuettes for the best products in many categories. The plebiscite was conducted on the website www.satkrak.com. There was a 20 categories - 3 products each. Below is a list of nominees and winners.

100 HDTV channels on Eutelsat satellites

2009-10-19: Eutelsat Communications announced that it has broken through the barrier of 100 High-Definition TV channels broadcasting through its video satellites. The 100th channel to take to the skies was Sky Sport 1HD, the flagship channel of the latest HD package from the SKY Italia pay-TV platform.

ASTRA2Connect Now Reaches 50,000 Subscribers

2009-10-19: SES ASTRA, an SES company, announced that its interactive satellite broadband service - ASTRA2Connect – is now used by more than 50,000 subscribers, an important new milestone in the successful development of the service. The company also announced that it has introduced new service packages that significantly increase the available speeds of the service, with download rates of up to 4,096 kbit/s and upload rates of up to 360 kbit/s.

Canal Overseas is introducing PVR

2009-10-19: NDS, the leading provider of technology solutions for digital pay-TV, announced that Canal Overseas , the international arm of CANAL+ Group, is introducing a personal video recorder (PVR) service with a Flash™-based Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) developed by NDS. This is the first PVR service for CANAL OVERSEAS markets across the Indian Ocean and the Caribbean.

Kudelski commences tender offer to buy OpenTV

2009-10-19: The Kudelski Group announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Kudelski Interactive Cayman, Ltd., has commenced a tender offer to acquire all outstanding Class A shares of OpenTV Corp. not owned by Kudelski or its subsidiaries for US$1.55 per share in cash. Kudelski’s offer is not conditioned on a minimum number of Class A shares being tendered.

euronews becomes the first international news provider on the Latvian DTT platform

2009-10-08: Multilingual news channel euronews is the only international news channel available on the first DTT platform in Latvia - Lattelecom, launched in August 2009. euronews is offered in the economic and basic packages and is available in four languages: English, French, German and Russian on channel 11. Lattelecom also distributes this channel on its IPTV platform.
